So Cesar and I have hit some issues. It turns out that our super fantastic distcc patch has some… issues. It turns out we’ve missed some functions and they seem to be rather important :) . For example, it turns out that the dcc_is_object() function needs to be compiler specific (who knew?). We’re in the process of fixing them in svn and will repost our super fantastic distcc patch (v0.2) as soon as we can. In the mean time you enjoy listening to this great song.

We also made a typical newbie mistake in that we let ourselves get frozen by fear of what if this doesn’t work out instead going forward and making things work out. Our most specific fear is that we’re going to have to switch to a single vtable model. I’d like to blame school’s new workload on this but really we just goofed.

Tashy registered a new site called scientits.net. I love that girl. I (for some reason) convinced her to go with wordpress over greymatter (since grey matter has always seemed kind of ugly to me) and it served as a lesson in “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Tasha liked (and knew) greymatter and the process of learning word press (especially since she has to have a custom template unlike me who doesn’t care) was a less than enjoyable experiance (for both of us). Hopefully (and doubtfully) I’ll learn this time.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that I’ve tried freemind 0.9.0 (Beta 7) and it works really well. I strongly recommend it. Here’s a list of Ubuntu Package Dependencies for Freemind 0.9.0, or at least what I had to install to get it working:

  • sun-java5-jre
  • libcommons-lang-java
  • libxpp3-java
  • and maybe a few others… though probably not.
